Baptist Union of UgandaYouth Ministry

Welcome to the Baptist Union of Uganda (BUU) youth ministry Blog and thank you for choosing to get information about us.

BUU Youth ministry is a vibrant arm of the Baptist Union of Uganda ministering for the Lord, to the Lord’s people and to the world. The ministry reaches the community, the un-churched youths and disciple the churched youths. This is in response to the Lord’s voice, saying, Whom can I send? Who will go for us? We have in obedience and humility joined Isaiah to say; Here we are. Send us! We have the joy to invite you to be part of this ministry.

The Vision
Our vision is to have Godly discipled youths stand out for Christ, impact the world and draw people to the knowledge and likeness of Christ.
The Mission Statement
Our mission is to have God highly exalted in the spiritual, social, physical and economic lives of the youths.

Discipleship; we conduct and encourage Bible studies, person-to-person discipleship like prayer partners, group discipleship where a group of youths meet to share and encourage each other. This has promoted accountability to each other hence a brother or sister’s keeper.
We equipped the youths with the word of God to guide them in their daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ and to enable them resist and overcome the trying moments of the enemy of a Christian.

Conferences: which have given the youths the opportunity to listen to a variety of ministers and testimonies addressing their day-to-day challenges and questions in their Christian walk. It also enables the youths to access Christian counsel from a well thought of and invited speakers. The conferences have further encouraged discussions, questions, expressions, interactions and time management among the youths.

Music, Dance and Drama: Through their participation, a number of youths who had not put their gifts into use have activated, youths have been attracted to church and have given their lives to Christ, the gospel has been preached in schools, communities, and standard of teamwork has been raised.

Sports program: The Team’s involvement in both indoor and out door games have kept the youths active, lively and given them fun hence finding and seeing a church as not boring but a home.

School out reach program: Action teams have been very instrumental in promoting school and orphanage out reach because they have taught in schools, conducted chapel hours, linked schools with their home churches, promoted games and served meals. These have improved the image of some schools but also the relationship between the churches and the schools.

Hospital ministry: During our time with the action teams, we have been able to reach out to the patients in hospitals to pray for them, to give them hope, and to witness for Jesus Christ to both the patients and caretakers.

Water source care: Most of our communities get water from un-protected water sources such as; spring wells most of which don’t flow well but also bushy hence insecure and causes healthy risk and for those which are protected like boreholes, trenches need to be opened for proper flow of the water. We have participated in the cleaning and opening of the trenches to allow proper flow of water to avoid stagnancy.

Home care and Hope ministry: We have many elderly people around us who look isolated and rejected without people to look up to for support, without shelter and in a very unhealthy environment.
We been able to identify these people and reached out to them with the love of Jesus Christ by cleaning their compounds, taking for them water, washing for them their cloths, and organizing for them simple better shelter. They have seen the love of Jesus expressed by the youths through these activities and we have seen some of them come to church and give their lives to Jesus.
